Bucket lists are fun! They not only keep you inspired through a season, but they also encourage you to think outside the box and give you the opportunity to dream a little:)

Earlier this year, we did a post for “Summer Bucket List Ideas for Kids” (Link HERE). With that said, I thought it would be fun to pull together a compilation of 25+ fall bucket list ideas for families. These ideas are simply to spark creativity and inspiration as you envision what fall will look like for you and your family. For ease of navigation, I will go ahead and separate these fall bucket list ideas into three categories: outdoor activities, educational activities, and ministry.

1. Outdoor activities.

  • Go stargazing (don’t forget blankets!)
  • Go on a family bike ride and enjoy the cooler evenings
  • Go apple picking
  • Visit a pumpkin patch
  • Go on a hayride
  • Have a bonfire and make s’mores
  • Take fall family pictures (could be indoors, if you prefer!)
  • Visit a farmer’s market
  • Grow a fall garden
  • Drive together as a family in a scenic place
  • Complete a nature-themed scavenger hunt
  • Go on a scenic hike together

2. Educational activities.

  • Read a book together about the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving
  • Put together a fall morning basket
  • Add a few simple fall decorations to your schoolroom
  • Learn a few songs that pertain to thankfulness such as “We Gather Together” and “For the Beauty of the Earth”
  • Make a homemade apple pie
  • Bake cinnamon rolls
  • Make apple cider or butter
  • Start a gratitude journal (individually or as a family)
  • Memorize verses about thankfulness/praise (1 Thessalonians 5:18, Psalm 107:1, or even all of Psalm 100)
  • Learn a cozy hobby like knitting or wood carving
  • Create a fall-themed craft

3. Ministry.

  • Host a Friendsgiving meal (like Thanksgiving but with friends on a day other than Thanksgiving)
  • Send “thankful for you” notes to friends/family who live far away
  • Bake pumpkin cookies and give them to neighbors (a great recipe linked HERE)
  • Rake leaves for seniors in your church
  • Give out Gospel tracts at a fall festival

There you have it! In this post, we have considered 25+ different fall bucket list ideas for families. I sincerely hope that these ideas have inspired you to start a bucket list with your family. With that said, I encourage you to go through this list with your kids and encourage them to add any that would be special to them this fall. Maybe it would mean the world to them to simply have a family game night or maybe your child would love to watch a fall movie. The possibilities are endless for this fall bucket list.

In reality, some of the best things we can do together as families this fall are to slow down, take time to notice the beautiful blessings God has given us, and find creative ways to be thankful and serve others.

With all of that said, I encourage you to make the most of your fall as you enjoy your family and this beautiful season God has given us!
